Skyler White
You stare out the window,
thinking about how you tried your best.
It’s ironic, but you’re actually their dream girl.
You’re a housewife. A mother. You let your husband provide.
But no one ever said that a woman’s place was on the seedier side of life.
You couldn’t sit still, and just be grateful.
You couldn’t stand by, and watch your family die.
But, your pleas fell on uncaring ears.
Now you just wish that you hadn’t said anything.
It’s a woman’s worst nightmare to find out that they’re Skyler White.
You could be good.
But then, you’re a traitorous snitch.
You could be bad.
But then, you’re a hypocrite.
You still don’t know what it is that you’ve done wrong,
other than exist,
and say no to a man,
who’d kill another man,
just so he could believe he was worthy of his silhouette.
The shadow that makes the mob go feral, because he gives them their pound of flesh.
That same mob that complains,
because you didn’t get a bullet in the head.
And all you can do is cry,
because you never asked to be Skyler White.
You’re surrounded by men who murder, corrupt and lie.
But there is no greater crime than being a nagging wife.
Sure, you’re not perfect.
Of course, no one is saying that.
But they hang the woman, and they flog her too.
While the man gets to run loose with the golden goose.
They hated you on sight.
They just needed an excuse.
To pin you down, and sink in their teeth.
It’s one thing for him to fool around with the law.
But a woman is too dangerous to live,
when she emasculates a man into being a drug lord.
Everything is your fault tonight.
That’s the burden of being Skyler White.
